to find the answer to your question.
1) How often should I change my filter?
Different filters require changes at different intervals. The rule of thumb for regular throw away filter types is 30 days.
2) Why is my upstairs colder than my downstairs in the winter and hotter in the summer?
In many houses, the HVAC system is on the lowest level. This means that if ducts are not sized right, airflow to the highest level of the home is often not adequate. Also, hot air expands upwards and causes temperature variances.
3) What is the emergency heat setting on heat pumps?
This is the strip heat in your air handler. It will come on automatically when you switch the heat to the E setting. Emergency heat is a powerful source of heat but is also very expensive. Most people use this only if the outdoor heat pump has failed.
4) I hear so much about indoor air quality products. Are they worth it?
We at Frosty’s Heating & Cooling, Inc. believe that since you spend a great deal of time in your home, it needs to be comfortable for you and your family. We offer many products and services, including duct cleaning, air cleaners, and humidifiers. These products can also increase the operating efficiency of your HVAC system. Please call our office to speak with one of our IAQ specialists if you have any questions.
5) Why does my heat pump blow cold air?
A well running heat pump generates about 90 degrees air on a normal winter day. This is plenty to heat your home to 70 degrees but will feel cold to the touch since body temperature is 98.6 degrees. If your thermostat is registering normally, your system is probably running normally.
6) Do I really need regular service on my HVAC system?
The answer is yes. For optimum performance, all HVAC systems need to be serviced at least annually. Regular maintenance on HVAC equipment keeps your system running at peak performance and prevents major problems. Annual maintenance contracts are an excellent and cost efficient way to maintain your HVAC equipment. Please call our office to find out about the different maintenance contracts we offer. |
